I have a problem in that I keep getting a Chinese web site as my home page. I have gone thru the usual steps to reset my default home page but the Chinese web site keeps coming up every time I reboot. Any ideas???

Hi lurpin, welcome to the PC Mech forums!

Download and install Ad-Aware, it should get rid of any spyware/adware program that's causing the problem.

You also might want to scan for viruses and trojans.

Do you have the latest Ad-Aware reference file? Have you scanned for viruses and trojans yet? Have you deleted your cookies?

Yes I have done all of the above and deleted cookies. I am deleting Internet Explorer and reinstalling it to see if it helps

Hope this page helps you Browser hijacking (http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/). I like Spybot S&D, if you download it click on the online button and search for updates before running it so you will have the latest info. Hope this helps.

NO!
Open Regedit, and search for THAT particular website, or part of it's name. Delete all references, and replace with YOUR preference.
Do the same in system.ini and win.ini as it could be hiding in any of those 3 spots.
Mine is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\StartPage (Windows XP)
and it may be elsewhere too.
