Why is it we have a General Discussion fourm when everytime someone brings up 9-11 or some other topic the Mods Don't like they try to send them to forum click. If this is a part of the forum were we can talk about anything than leave it alone. If you don't like whats being said here than don't reply
Forum Click is a off shoot to PCMECH anyway. I have been over to forum click and the same people who are members here are members there. I'm getting really tired of the mods trying to tell members politely to go else where if they don't like what's being said here. This site is sapose to be for everyone to come and talk about PC toubles and anything else that comes to mind like the topic of discussion that this MOD doesn't like.
This is the second such topic concerning 9-11 or something along that line that is being pushed over to Forum click. It seems to me that lately the MODS are being biased, when it comes to certain topics and they should back off. And if this thread upsets you than "TOO BAD"
Because political discussions are then the ONLY threads that are in this forum, for pages and pages and pages.
No one has ever changed anyone's mind in the history of politics...ever. If you still feel that you must be able to try and do so desite that, then you're welcome to do so on ForumClick, otherwise the door is the X on the upper right.

DD5,
We used to have political discussions here in the past and I believe the mods got too many complaints from members. Especially members in other countries that don't relate to the topic at hand. Further, these discussions would frequently degenerate into flame-fests with communication patterns based on mutual put-down. I know several members (otherwise good folks) that are not around anymore because of these topics. For those reasons I believe the decision was made to prohibit those topics and I concur with that decision. Keep in mind that this is a tech forum, and though the topics in General Discussion are not always tech related, they tend to avoid politics, religion, etc.

From someone who has been aroung here since 1999, I have to say that if the mods didn't "redirect" some of the discussions, I probably wouldn't still be cruising this site.
As you can see from my posting stats, I read more than post here. Many of the tech-savvy people who have helped me have been more than kind and patient with my computer questions. That's what keeps me coming back. I don't feel as though I'm going to be bashed and ignored for asking a "stupid question".
Many other forums are rude, out-of control, and can be very intimidating. It shows when the mods don't care (or moderate), and everything is a free-for-all. Then the flaming, the accusations, the Jerry Springer attitude takes over.
I believe in the freedom of speech, and I think that the mods are very forgiving a lot of the time. But the forum usage rules do state:
"We strive to provide an environment where people can discuss technology subjects as well as seek support solutions with minimal distraction."
I have tried to moderate a much smaller forum, and I can tell you it can be quite a job. I closed it down after a year, because it was a volunteer effort on my part, and it was too much work.
If the mods have to come down on a few malcontents to keep the civility and essence of this forum, then I'm all for it. It's what keeps this one of the best forums around, IMHO.

Plain and simple. Controversial topics are sent to Forumclick because the rules there aren't as tight. If a discussion gets heated there, no big deal. If a discussion gets heated here and the parties involved don't want to behave... well... you know the concequences.

Well I apologize for jumping the gun I was unaware that this type of topic was causing so much problems with other members. this topic became a little touchy for me because like I said this is the second time I seen someone told t go to fourm click for this type of discussion.
I enjoy this site just as much as anyone else does, that's why I come here I don't go to many sites like this so I'm a little under educated on what goes on at a lot of the sites, after this posting I quess I will find out more than I bargined for.
Sorry this was not meant to bash anyone and I hate "Jerry Springer".

No, no doubledragon5, my comments were not directed at you. I didn't mean it to sound that way, sorry. You always have the right to state your opinions. I don't think anyone is trying to keep you from doing that, just trying to explain the "why" to your question is all.
No hard feelings. Hope you feel that way too.
DD5: Can we ask you to review the forum FAQ, please? I do believe your issue is thoroughly answered in there along with a lot of other things you might want to know. Thanks! Trust me, I'm not being arbitrary when I close a thread in here right off the bat like that, we have an established set of rules as to what is acceptable and what is not.

To all Moderators and members of PCMECH I have read the FAQ and in the future will not be so quick to attack a thread without first fully understanding the reason for its closing.
I'm again apologize for this thread and hope you do accept!
