i have a elitegroup k7vza mother board with on board sound, i would like the onboard sound card to be used for the moment because it will do the job i require which is to simply listen to my Mp3's, however the operatiing system wont detected it, i've tried Xp, Win2000, and 98, which leaves me to one conclusion, that i must have not done something right when i built it. i've checked the manual and bios, for obvious answers, but have found none, i have made sure that the onboard sound chip is switched on in the bios, and i have searched the manual the best i know how to find a jumper that i need to move or and option i have to use, but i have come up empty, the manufactures arent interested, can any body help?

Have you installed the needed VIA audio drivers?

i've tried, but it wont install to anything as it hasnt dectected new hardware, so the program installs the drivers to the system directery but doesnt enable the component.

It could be a faulty board, ECS has been known to have major quality problems. A Hercules Game Surround Muse LT sound card will give you better quality sound for only $14 @ NewEgg if the onboard sound can't be used.
