here's the problem i have. my keyboard keeps not working. I've narrowed it down to that the drivers keep deleting themselves or something along that line. but i have no idea why. I can always tell when the keyboard won't work because the indicator lights for the num lock, caps lock and scroll lock blink in sync and about 3 times every second. I have no idea what the problem is and it seems that every time i boot up i have to re-install the keyboard drivers  any body have any clue as to what is going on here?

The first questions I would have for you is:
What operating system are you running?
what kind of keyboard are you using (ps2 or usb, regular connection or wireless)? You might as well give us the make and model....

i'm running win 98se, it's just a standard compaq ps2 keyboard. i loaded the standard windows drivers for it and it seems to be working for the moment.

If it's the standart 101-key keyboard, then windows should automatically instal a driver for it. Are you trying to install the drivers from a disk that came with the keyboard?

no disk came with the keyboard. it's just a cheap one that i got from my friend. there is nothing special about the keyboard at all. just your regular run-of-the-line compaq

Then standard keyboard = standard driver,
as in the Windows default.
I kind of doubt it's a driver problem.
That leaves you with a bad keyboard or a weak connector that goes bad at odd moments. Not sure what the flashing of the lights means.
Does it fail right at startup or does it quit while you're using it ???

I think I know why your friend got rid of it. Seriously it sounds like the keyboard itself is bad. Cheap keyboards are not worth fixing even if you could.

yeah, i know. it's been pretty good to me up to this point, i haven't had any problems with it. I've been looking at afew new keyboards anyway. I don't think my friend would give me a bum keyboard. anyway, it's been working for the past 2 days alright, so i'l keep it till it really takes a $hit on me.
