Appreciate some assistance.

Using MS WORD (9.0.2720) to prepare some documents.
Managed to place a horizontal line in between two paragraphs, and have no clue as to how to get rid of the line!!! The line runs from the left margin to the right margin.

Have tried to highlight and delete, play around with several options, but that accomplished nothing. There is a way, but I do not know how to get rid of this line.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

Check the Borders options. I think that line is a border.

On the subject of MS Word (97), my mom couldn't figure out how to make her document double spaced. How do you do it? (Word '97).

Thanks, I hope i am not hijacking the thread.

@ DilLy:

Go to Format > Paragraph. There is an option for spacing. My word is in Spanish and it reads Interlineado. By default it reads single, but you can choose 1.5 or double spaced. HTH.

Hi Nuclear Krusader.

You can also hold in "ctrl" and press 2 for double line spacing after highlighting whatever you want dun. "Ctrl+5" for 1.5 spacing.

Just a thought on a few shortcuts for us laysy guys. ;)

Back on the original topic, if I have this type of problem, and not being a Word expert this is what I normally try:

Type some rubbish (few letters) at the END of the last sentance above the 'thing' that you want to get rid of (I normally insert before the full-stop to be absolutely sure).

Type some more rubbish (few more letters) at the start of the first sentance below the 'thing' (I normally put them after the first capital letter - again to be sure).

Now highlight the first rubbish to the second rubbish inclusive (mouse or keyboard).

Press delete.

That normally gets rid of the 'thing' between the sentances / paragraphs, and you tidy up with a full-stop, capital letter or whatever else is missing, if anything.

Hope that helps!

David.

Thanks for the replies.

As suggested, the darn (+ a few other adjectives) horizontal line is considered a border by the WORD proggie.

Finally got rid of it as follows:

-The first step was to hit the menu bar: Edit>Select All.
-Then went to the Format menu, clicked Borders and Shading, and then clicked the Page Border tab.
-In the Page Border tab, under the area of Preview, clicked where the line/border was (bottom in this case).
-Went to: Apply to, and chose: Paragraph.
-Then went to: Settings, and clicked the frame indicating: None

Clicked: OK, got out of the Borders and Shading frame, went back to the document, and clicked on a blank space. The previously highlighted text went back to not being highlighted, and the horizontal line went AWAY.

Good grief!
