does anybody know of a good program that'll analyse a network and make sure everything is running fine (speeds, etc). also, something that will look for packet loss statistics and stuff like that.

This (http://www.objectplanet.com/Probe/) looks like it might work, but I haven't had time to d/l and try it.

i downloaded it. it requires windows 2000/xp/nt. i was looking for something for windows 98

Sorry about that Homer, I just assumed you were using an NT based OS.

no problem.
i found <a href="http://www.ethereal.com/" target="_blank">the ethereal packet sniffer</a>. it looks like it'll work. also, it needs <a href="http://winpcap.polito.it/" target="_blank">winpcap</a> to run.

BTW I installed Network Probe and I really like so far, I'll have more time this weekend to play with it.
