Hi,
I have recently subscribed to Bellsouth DSL. On my laptop I get speeds of about 1.2mb download. My problem is with my desktop. I took the ethernet cable from my laptop and connected it to my desktop and on my desktop the speed drops about 2/3 to about 400kbs. A Bellsouth tech looked at my system. He tried a different modem, a different cabe, and also changed the ethernet card, along with looking at the startup and config files. with no change to the speed. He believes there is a bottleneck somewhere, but was unable to identify it. I am running Windows XP Home Ed. I have an intel P-3 500Mhz chip with 512 MB RAM. I have an Abit BE6 motherboard. It has a soundblaster live sound card. It has a 32MB generic NVidia Riva TNT2 model 64 video card. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
