Basic Software interactions in LAN

Hello Everybody!

I am Akki a new member on this forum. I am a Masters student at UMR and persuing my research in "TRIZ".

I am studying the basics of LAN and WAN to have a system model for my research. I would highly appreciate anyones help in regards to that.

I have already prepared the harware model with all basic components required for LAN and now I want to get familiar with the software side of the model. What exactly i require are the intercations taking place between Computers and other forms of hardware like printers and also some information on what sort of softwares exist for the same purpose.

If any body could provide me with even the basic information or even links to some Internet sites giving information about them I would be highly obliged.
