In the Microsoft NT4 view of the world each Domain consists of just one PDC, and possibly a series of BDC's or member Servers.
These 3 server classes still exist in Win 2K Server, but is the NT model carried forward: i.e One PDC per domain to host the user accounts database?

Yes, PDCs is ever presence in Windows 2000 network, because what it does is to check for authorised users who log-on to the domain.
In fact, in Windows 2000 Active Directory Network, you can have 2 PDC existing at different domain at the same time. The second one acts as a 'spare tyre'.
The beauty of the PDC in Windows 2000, is that you are able to move it's 'role' to another simply by a 'click ' or two, to another, if it fails. It's 'mobile' :D

DC Promo, right.
But, just to clarify, there only one PDC "roled" computer at any one time in a single domain.
If there are two domains, then two PDC's, one for each domain and so on.
Basically it mirrors the NT4.0 view of the world, right ?
