Hi! I'm trying to setup a Belkin 4-Port Cable/DSL Gateway Router to be able to share my cable internet connection with both the main family computer and my brother's PlayStation 2. Now, I got the router yesterday and tried to set it up, but was quite unsuccessful. I made all the right connections but I guess I didn't setup up the router to be properly configured with my connection. When I first set the router up, the internet worked fine on the main family pc. However, we couldn't get the connection to work on the PS2. Then, after trying to connect on the PS2, the internet stopped working on the main computer. I've disconnected everything back to the original configuration and thought I would ask you guys as to how the heck I'm supposed to set this up. I know where are the cables and connections go, my only problem is setting up the router for the connection. I have access through Charter Pipeline. Any information you could give me would be extremely helpful. Also, I thought with a cable modem, you could simply plug the cable into the computer and you would have net access. I did this with my laptop (i switched all the cables so that the laptop was the only one with a connection) but I couldn't get the internet to work...any thoughts on this? Thanks a lot guys!

The cable modem is ethernet right? It should work. I'm not too familiar w/ cable, but thats the setup my friend has, and it works.

I'm not %100 sure about the ps2, but I think I might've heard that its very difficult to set those up behind routers. I'm not sure though, so wait for some other people to reply. Have you tried connecting the ps2 directly to the modem yet?

Yeah, connecting the PS2 directly to the modem works fine.
