I need help in installing WIN 98 (SE).

I took out clean formatted HD from one of my other computer, wher it was a "Primary Slave"

I have attached it to a new make as Primary Master. I have downloaded the bootable disk from Bootdisk.com

I am booting the computer with bootdisk floppy and ultimately it can detect CD ROM. Now I can see

A:\>

I can also change drive to D:\>

But unfortunately, when I type CD C: it returns

"Unrecognized Drive" as answer. How can I solve this problem. Please help me out.

Question: 1) Do I need to copy the contents of the bootdisk floppy on to C drive?
2) Since, I can't reach at C:\> , how can I copy?

Thanks in advance
Arup.

Hi Arup,

Does BIOS recognize the drive??

Do you have an Active Partition on it??

Arup,
Check TwoRails suggestions and if everything there is ok, I believe you type E:\ at the the A:\ prompt as the bootdisk has made a temporary "Ramdrive" and pushes your cd-rom up a letter.
Type E:\setup after you put the Win98se disk in the drive and Windows should start loading.

Arup,
Type FDISK at the A:\ prompt and make your partition active.

Arup in addition to creating the active drive w/fdisk- did you change the jumper from slave to to master?
