I am setting up my computer as an http server using Sambar Server, and I want to also turn it, or another computer into an email server. Does anyone know how I can do this? I already have my domain name and I have a dsl connection.
http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_index.html?/main/server-software.html (mail server software.) -scroll down till you see Mail server software list.
I'd use apache as my web server.
you have your own domain...nice :D
um..DSL,most ISPs dont not let you host servers.its a violation of Term of Use or License Agreement. You can still host it...they dont block you on port 80.you might get caught if your site gets a lot of traffic...then they will be
at least,My AT&T does not let me .

Thanks for the link, checking it out right now.
LOL, you are right, the contract does forbid it. However, the site is just a personal page and is lucky to get more than a hit a day :) I haven't heard anything from Verizon yet, I imagine they will just make me shut down the server if they find out, I doubt they'd terminate my account (hope not anyway).
My email server would be strictly used for my personal correspondence and will probably peak at 10 emails a day the night before US history tests with outlines and notes :) Otherwise, it'll be lucky to get an email a day.
Oh, and about the domain name, I got it at dyndns.org for free, if you're interested.

Yeah, you have to pay to use sambar's mail server, which I'd rather not do ;)
