My comp is
ecs K7S5A
128 ram
850 Duron
20 gig
Win XP Pro
My computer won't start and this error message comes up:-
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system
Does anyone know why this happened and how to fix it
Please help guys

I have wiped the hard drive and re-installed windows XP
But the problem keeps happening
Anyone know why???

Did you try a repair from the CD?

what type of HD is it?
I would run the MFG diag tools and make sure HD is okay since you have done a fresh install.
I would clear the cmos too just to make sure.

Hi Julian,
Two quick things to try...replace the IDE cable with another. Replace your RAM with another stick.
You might also want to do a virus scan and make sure the boot sector of the hard drive is clean.
