installing rpm's in red hat

I'm just learning this and I'm going through an interactive program and I need to install a pppoe rpm to hook to the internet. this is the instuctions that in gives me

If you downloaded the RPM file, type:

# If you don't want the GUI:
rpm -Uvh rp-pppoe-3.5-1.i386.rpm
/usr/sbin/adsl-setup

# If you do want the GUI
rpm -Uvh rp-pppoe-3.5-1.i386.rpm rp-pppoe-gui-3.5-1.i386.rpm
/usr/bin/tkpppoe

where do you type in this command at

Hi,

First off launch a console (shell) window. Make sure you are logged on as root, or become "superuser" by typing "su" (without quotes) in the console window at the prompt. Then enter your root password, when it prompts you to enter a password. After that, go ahead and navigate to the directory where the .rpm file is located. For example you would type in (at the prompt--if your file is located in /home/user/temp): cd (stands for change directory) /home/user/temp/ Once you are in the desired directory where the file is loacated type in the command you have listed above and it should install. HTH

Hi Mark,

There should be a link to it on the taskbar. It's kinda the equivalent to an M$ DOS window in Windows. Let me know if you still can't find it and hope this helps.

Ok thanks for the help I did get it installed but to try to configure this I'm not sure I'm going about this the right way I'm going through a router that is hooked to my dsl modem that is always on the router is set to give my isp provider user and password all I have to do in windows is hit the enternet button and I'm on. Is roaring penguin what I'm needing or am I needing to set up a network on red hat and hook to the internet this way. (Good thing I have to systems up lol)
