Start UP dosen't stop at the tesktop

I believe this problem started round the time I added the second hard drive to my ME OS computer. By Partitioning this second hard drive into (5 logical partitions) I now have 5 Extra single hard drives on my computer.

Sometimes, but not always, when I start up my computer, instead of it stopping at the desktop, it will continue on and load the C,D,E,F,G, and H popup windows.

I find this very disturbing. Is there any way of stopping the start up procedure at the desktop, and letting me decide which drive I want to open up from their?

I've always had multi-drives and multi-partitions since the days of DOS. Never a problem.

However, I don't really understand what your asking. Some detail may help, like what do you mean "it will continue on and load ... popup windows" What do you mean "continue on" and what are the popups saying?

Also, "open up" a drive?? Are you refering to Windows Explorer??

Thank you for your fast reply, it was greatly appreciated.

Well the best way I can describe it is, it's like clicking on My Computer in desk top, and then clicking on C,D,E,F,G, and H drives individually to open them up, only this happens on it's own automatically.

When the computer starts, or boots up it should stop at the desktop with all your icons showing, and then from there I should be able to select what I want to do, Instead of that happening automatically

Have you checked the Startup Folder or looked in msconfig>Startup for anything out of place?

Yes I did, your suggestions were one of the first things I looked into. Nothing seemed out of place or added that would cause this problem.

What kind of background programs do you have running on your system?

Have you done a complete virus scan with updated definitions?

I haven't come up with much.... Maybe you can give This (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml) a try. It is a robust Start Up Manager. I've downloaded it myself on recommendations of others, BUT I have Not tried it out yet.

This may give us more clues to go on...

Thanks to both Cricket, and Especially TwoRails for the Start Up Manager. You were both right on the mark as to where I should start looking for my problem. I must say, Start Up Manager made things a lot easier for me to find the problem.

The culprit causing the problem was Adobe Gamma Loader.exe, in the start up file. I just assumed it needed to be there, because I have alot of Adobe stuff on my computer.
