I always appereciate it when a company offers support like this.
The problem was driving me nuts,I finally succumbed and tried MSN's online support,problem solved in 3 minutes.
here's a modified copy of the transcript emailed me after my session.
MSN Interactive Online technical Support is a real-time service available to MSN Internet Access customers and MSN Explorer users. MSN Technical Support Engineers will assist you with your Technical Support issues in real time, without disconnecting your computer.
Topic: I downloaded msn 8 yesterday and every time I start my computer msn launches.I have disabled auto start and have disabled auto update,my question is how can I stop MSN from automatically starting,as this is getting to be a pain,it will even start up after i've cancelled it.

Alfie That is correct,it automatically launches ,I don't touch a thing
Peggy The reason that you are experiencing this is due to the connection settings that is changed from dial when there is not conenction option from the internet options.

Peggy Please click on Start, Control Panel. On the Control Panel window, please double click the "Internet Options" icon.

Peggy Now please click on the Connection tab and under Dial Up Settings, please highlight your MSN Connection and then place a dot against "Never dial a connection".

Peggy Thank you for performing the steps. Please be rest assured that you will no longer receive the MSN Sign in screen to appear unless you wish to invoke it manually.
