Hello. I am using IE 5.5 and I would like to copy my Favorites, my email addresses, and my emails to another computer. Where can I find these items in Windows Explorer? Or what category should I post this question in?
Thanks for the help,
Dick

Favorites, are in the windows directory and can be copied to a disk and copied to the windows directory on another PC.

You should be able to export both your addresses and e-mails in Outlook Express, if that is what you are using.

If you are using Outlook Express, it is probably easiest to go to File...Export and export the e-mails. Same for addresses in the Address book. E-mails are stored in *.idx files I believe, addresses are in a *.wab file, if you want to just transfer the files.

Thanks Doctorgonzo,
I was able to export my address file to My Documents where I can transfer it to a CD when I am ready.
I tried the same with my emails, but the system said is has an error while initializing MAPL
I did a search to find *.idx files, but there were no emails found in the search. Messages must be something other than *.idx files. If you can find another type of file for me to search, I would appreciate your help. Thanks again.

Try *.dbx. I also just stumbled upon a program that will read dbx files, you can look at it here (http://www.mailnavigator.com/read_outlook_express_dbx_files.html). It may be useful.

Try C-windows-application data-identities-microsoft-outlook express. You should find the .dbx files here unless you've specified another location. Have fun -they all look greek to me
