I am using a D-Link 10/100 NIC in my computer that is in my signature. It is running into a Linksys BEFSR41 4-Port router and then into a Toshiba Cable Modem. I am using RoadRunner supplied by Time Warner Cable, recently bought by AOL (not THAT recent... but less than 2 years ago).
I have noticed, over the last week, an incredibly slowdown in service. Webpages open slower, downloads aren't as fast. But the worst thing is on-line games. It takes me 20-30 seconds longer to connect ANY Counter-Strike server than it ever did before. Once in there, my ping bounces all around from 30-350. It goes up when I shoot, see a lot of other players, get into fire-fights, basically whenever there is "more" on my screen.
It never did this before, I don't remember changing anything. I have the most up to date NIC drivers and the most up to date router firmware. I am thinking it is because AOL is taking over, a general deterioration in service and quality. But could it be something that I could fix myself? Thanks.
By the way, I have tried resetting the router and the modem, and connecting directly to the modem. None of those have worked. Thanks again
