Is it a standard pop3 email account? What happens when you try to add it manually?

Newme, is the e-mail program in question set as the default windows e-mail program? I tried removing my pop3 account and then I imported it with no problems.
Whats the name of your pop3 server?

Hi newme,
If shawmail is the pop3 server, it should be OK, though that doesn't seem like that would be the whole address. It should be something like 'pop3.shawmail.com'. What email client are you using? If it is Outlook Express or Outlook, check the account settings to get the whole address. Also, mailwasher does not support hotmail (or AOL for that matter), though I'm not sure if that is adding to the problem.

FYI the new version 2.x does support Hotmail in fact there is a new release out 2.0.13b.

Thanks for the update, lil Jimmie. Didn't know hotmail was supported in the new version (haven't downloaded it yet).
"shawmail" is a proxy - you have to contact your provider and get the real name of the server. @Home used to be like this - the published server name was just "mail" which was a proxy, the real server name here was something like "mail.mntp1.il.home.com".
I would bet that your server name will be something along the lines of "pop.vanc2.bc.shaw.ca" or similar.
I have this service and my POP3 and my STMP are both "shawmail". The only time this changes is when someone is having problems and then the iSP will recommend a setting like glc suggests. HTH
