Hi,

I just got onboard. Am having a problem entering setup. I had to replace the battery and I lost my settings. The problem now is when I boot the screen doesn't go past the "press del to enter setup" When I press del nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks

press Del as soon as it comes up and before the message disappears. In basic setup set the HD detection to auto (if available) and detect each drive. Then save and exit. Reboot and all should be well.
If not how old is your system and what does it have in the way of drives.

Make sure that you don't have the keyboard and the mouse plgged into the wrong plugs. I remember one night that I spent 30 minutes wondering what happened only to find out that this was the case.

I just noticed the keyboard does't work. When it boots the screen just sits at the make of the computer and won't let you do anything. the keyboard lights (cap locketc.) doesn't work either.

It could be that at the point of the hang, the keyboard has yet to be detected.

If you have your mobo manual, look for a jumper that will cause a bios reset. Move the jumper over from pins 1&2, to pins 2&3, wait about 10 seconds and then move it back. This should cause a bios reset.
After, try a power on again.

When you first turn the power on, do you see any flash of lights on the keyboard at all? If not, check the plug (like morris suggested), and if that doesn't work, try a different keyboard. (especially a plain ps/2 keyboard, if you have one lying around).

Is your keyboard a wireless? You mentioned the pc's brand splash screen - what make/model?

. . . hopefully, it's fixed already & I'm just practicing my typing
