I am running Windows 2000, and I have two problems.
1) Occasionally in My Computer I double-click a file on an external drive. Sometimes if it is on Drive A it tries to open the file, but cannot, so it tries for about 10 minutes with the drive running, however the computer will not respond. Sometimes logging off is the only way to get it to stop. If I take the disk out, the drive keeps going. A message may come up saying "31/2 Floppy: The program is not responding". I choose End Now and it says "The program cannot be closed. If it is being debugged, close the debugger". The screen then freezes, and I have to log on again to get it back.
2) In programs like Microsoft Word, if I call up Spelling and Grammar or Word Count, the title bar changes colour, but the window does not open. The only way to get Spelling and Grammar and Word Count to come up is to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and click Task Manager.
