Java bomb from Gohip; HELP!

Hey guys,

I recently reinstalled Windows 98 & started surfing again thru my cable modem. I have mysteriously received some type of cookie or browser add-on from go-hip.com, and I cannot get this thing to go away; I am running IE 5.0; it has added several other buttons on my browser and I am constantly java script bombed w/ these annoying pop-up windows. I have tried clearing cache & cookies & it will not go away; I could try uninstalling IE, but not sure if that will work; any ideas?

Couldnt get to go-hip.com did go to gohip.com and nothing untoward loaded up.
To uninstall this and other "features" have you checked your CONTROL PANEL > Add / Remove programs for anything suspicious? and removing it?
or how about go to TOOLS > Internet Options > Temporary Internet Files - Settings..VIEW OBJECTS. There you should see the new controls if any that have been installed. You can right click and delete them off. [location: C:\~YourWindozeDirectory~\Downloaded Program Files]
While there .. removing cookies might not be a bad idea as well. from the view files button.

To prevent stuff from being loaded without your permission, how abt changing ur security settings. TOOLS > Internet Options > Security > Custom level > Installation of Desktop Items - Prompt or Download of ActiveX controls - Prompt.

I've seen this before, we had some customers at the ISP I worked for complaining about gohip.com signature ads showing up in their email all of a sudden.

When deleting cookies in IE, make sure to delete them ALL, manually. Ex's description is how to do it. The "delete files" button in Internet options only deletes expired cookies, current ones will still be there.

I'd also recommend running a firewall if you aren't currently running one. Get Zonealarm from http://www.zonelabs.com It'll tell you if a program wants to send anything out and ask for permission to let it do so, so you can easily identify and eliminate ad bots that way.
