View Full Version : Is It Worth The Trouble?
Now that you guys have been using ME for a while, what do you think? Is it worth the upgrade?
I recently picked up a copy of the upgrade for 98 users. The $50 version. I was hoping to do a clean install. Can I just format and fdisk and verify with my 98 or 98se disk? Of course I am assuming I can use my 98 bootdisk.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

You can use that (cheap) upgrade to do a full install.
I don't think it's worth the $, but I got it running successfully. (See my thread "MEOS as an OS is a POS")
Use the win98 boot disk. Start with CD-ROM support, plug in the ME CD, and when asked, plug in the 98 CD.
You don't even need to format, just fdisk with large disk support (fat32) and go. The setup will format the disk for ya.

Was planning to format just the C partition and install ME this evening for a customer. I presume ME will only affect the C partition. Anything I need to know, any dangers?

No problems. It's like any other windows OS.
It will install to C and not affect any other partitions or drives.
It DOES have to be primary master though. Not sure why, but it won't install IDE drivers otherwise.

Actually that system I put Me on is still up and running off of that original install. I nevre cared for Me but I don't any of the 9X Os's either.
