Scandisk

Is there a way to have scandisk fix all errors when running it from the Win98 bootdisk? There seems to be a lot of errors and bad sectors and I don't have the time to sit there and hit the enter key every time an error shows.
I do realize that the drive is probably on it's last leg, but I would like to get through scandisk before I declare it dead...
I know that if you run scandisk in Windows, it gives you the option of fis all errors automatically.

I can't remember the version of DOS that ships with Win98 (a little rusty on most things in the DOS world), but here's an option that could run in DOS 6.2 and 6.22: (from the MS Knowledge Base)

MS-DOS Help contains the following text about ScanDisk /AUTOFIX:

/AUTOFIX

Fixes damage without prompting you first. By default, if you start ScanDisk with the /AUTOFIX switch and ScanDisk finds lost clusters on your drive, it saves the lost clusters as files in the drive's root directory. To have ScanDisk delete lost clusters rather than saving them, include the /NOSAVE switch. (If you use the /AUTOFIX switch and ScanDisk finds errors, it still prompts you for an Undo disk; to prevent this, include the /NOSUMMARY switch.) You cannot use the /AUTOFIX switch in conjunction with the /CHECKONLY or /CUSTOM switches.

Using the syntax above, ScanDisk does not actually scan the hard disk drive surface. To force ScanDisk to do so, use the /SURFACE switch in conjunction with the /AUTOFIX switch.

At the a:\> prompt type "scandisk /?" without the quotes. This will give you all the switches available.

I love your saying, Pointd--im going to copy and hang it over my desk at work :)

good tip--ive has scandisk "hang" while attempting to install win9x..I think I used the switch "IE" (no quotes) to stop this..
