I had Norton AV pop up on my screen and tell me I had acquired a virus and it could not be deleted by Norton AV.
It was in Tweak XP Pro. Wondered if anybody else has had this problem?

C:Program Files\TweakXP Pro\transtext.exe

I had to uninstall the program and clean all traces from the registry to delete it. Did a full scan after and all seems to be well.

Often times virus scanners can detect viruses but not delete them. I have spent a lot of time scrubbing computers registry and deleting files it left behind because the virus scanner couldn't do it.

I should have mentioned that the program has been on my comp for several months. I was curious to know why the virus came up now.

Hmmmm....I've got Tweak XP Pro v2.0.4 and I don't have that file -- I've got a transtask.exe and tranicon.exe but not transtext.exe.

Anyway -- did you maybe upgrade your version of Tweak XP Pro that might have included a virus?

It is the v2.0.4 I haven't gotten any upgrades since I installed it. It was definitely transtext.exe
NortonAV said that file was the virus.

I don't see the file transtext.exe listed at all on Symantec's site. Sometimes viruses come up with random names but this one is not listed. What virus did it say that it was?

The only thing I could find about Transtext was it is a program that adds transparency to text underneath icons on Windows Desktops. I found numerous places I could download it for free (freeware). Most of them are places that have Windows wallpaper. The homepage for the application is Transtext (http://www.chaossoft.com/trtext.shtml).

I don't know if maybe your scanner picked it as a virus when it was run or if you have an infected version of it. I downloaded it from several places and scanned it with NAV 2003. It didn't ID it as a virus. I didn't install the program though. HTH
