Yo,

I had NAV 2003 Professional.
It quit working and loading correctly.
I need protection!
What should I go with?
I use to use mcAfee but it betrayed me and let a virus sit on my system for 2 months.

Help! Thanks in advance.

Norton is still about the best there is. If it suddenly quit working, then it is a possibilty that you have a virus, since some of them disable virus scanners. Some others are Trend-Micro and Panda Anti-virus but they are not as good. You might do an online scan over at Trend-Micro to see if it comes up with anything.

yeah, NAV was talkin about some components being missing. I'll do that online scan now.

I used to use Kaspersky until they got too commercial and forgot what a AV program does. NAV is still the best IMO.

I like Norton the best but I am getting more and more emails that have been scanned with AVG. I just finished putting 2003 an all of our computers today. Only one had any issues with it, and there was a solution on thier site.

The guy I buy software from upgraded my order to Professional for free as a courtesy. I think I like the standard version better. The Professional version protects your Recycle Bin and a bunch of other stuff without asking and it takes a while to disable all the extra stuff you may not want.

Best $$$ alternative to Norton: Trend Micro PC-Cillin
Best free alternative: Grisoft AVG

Fixit utilities by Ontrack. They are good.
