ok.. after 2 hrs of trying to install win98se on my new maxtor 30gb hd (ive ran fdisk and format and the rest of them) i give it the a:/setup command and i get 'Windows not installed' wtf? im installing windows, i know that it isnt installed (i made the bootdisk off of my old hd) and i just cant seem to get it to install. ill keep trying, but i dont know if it will. your help is appreciated. thanks,
Hi,
the A:\setup, I believe A: was a floppy. Well, setup isn't on the floppy, so it can't work the way you did.
Therefore scrap the boot disk and boot from the CD. Now it should work.

Go into the BIOS! set your CD-ROM to first bootable device!!!!! save changes then!!! boot from the Windows 98 CD! then Install!!!!!

if you are unable to boot from the win98cd then boot with a win98
boot disk with cdrom suport and at the a: type E:\SETUP as the win98 boot disk makes a ram drive so your c drive becomes D and you D drive becomes E
