I understand we have the ability to edit our posts with a certain period of time. But what I don't understand is why we don't have the permission to delete posts of our own. I would rather do that then edit a post to "Edit: Ignore". Is there plans to give us this ability?

There is a thread about this from a few months ago. I don't think anyone but a Moderator has or will have the ability to delete posts.

You could always edit the post to say: Please delete this post. I'm sure it would be deleted then.

Exactly correct.

Only Moderators and Administrators have the ability to delete posts. This is setup this way to prevent users from abusing the privilege of this forum in a multitude of different ways.

If you wish for a post to be deleted, just edit it to say "Moderator Please Delete" or something of the like and we'll gladly take care of it.

Dock,
I have a question to add to this. Why is it when in the area to "edit" our posts the option to delete the posts is there?

Cause if you are smart you'll notice that you want a post deleted long before the edit window is closed. Either that, or the post is probably old enough and doesn't need deleted. Rarely, if ever, do we delete old posts.

When 'Delete Own Messages' is enabled vB will delete the entire thread if the person who posted the thread deletes the first post. I have seen long threads deleted this way on another forum. It's one thing to delete something you've posted. It's something totally different when someone deletes a lot of other peoples' posts that way. That's one reason to have it this way.

To be honest with you I didn't think such simple english would need explaining.

What sense would it make to want a post deleted after the fairly large edit window is closed? If you have any doubts about what you post, wanting it deleted in the future or such, you probably shouldn't post it.

Propaine: If your wish is to "egg me on" you might as well do it directly instead of using the comments of a third party, so we can get whatever you want over and dealt with.

I am not trying to make anyone feel stupid. I'm trying to make the point that it's rather silly to want a post deleted after the edit window is closed because you should have enough common sense not to post stuff that is questionable to your own mind (this is assuming I trust your mind enough to be the judge of what is proper and decent here at PC Mechanic, which in your case AVX I am questioning.

Also, because you’ve chosen to make me the brunt of an uncalled for a personal joke in the form of a sarcastic insult I deem it proper to give you a warning. Personal insults are uncalled for no matter who they come from and who they are aimed at.

Because the topic of this thread has been answered and is now strying off-course I am going to close it. If anyone has further questions about Forum Policy they are free to post a new thread in this forum, or contact a staff member.
