Outlook 2000 (MS way of giving me gray hair)

Ok...More gray hair than I already have....

First…. Merry X Mass to all…
My problem today centers around Outlook…My system is a Dell …98SE…Office 2000…Acrobat 5.0….
I opened Outlook first thing this morning with no problems…. I closed the program and attempted to open it an hour later, the Outlook start up window opens but will not open up to the folders or any other views. Things I have tried: Ran the Office 2000 repair program on the CD…Checked the integrity of my network settings. (I am able to log on to the network). Thinking that I may have caught a virus I ran NAV. Some odd things noticed with the operation of the PC…When I open a window and drag it around on the desktop it creates multiple copies of the window, some that disappear with some remaining. Of course the duplicated windows are not working but stagnant images.

Any replies and help with this matter are greatly appreciated.

FYI….Update…
After spending the majority of my morning on this I finally fixed the problem. Some how the Outlook file OUTCMD.DAT located in windows\applicationdata\Microsoft\outlook corrupted. I renamed it OUTCMDOLD.DAT and now everything works fine. This tip came from HOT ROD on an Excel issue un-related to this PC.
