Hello,

I am currently running WinXP Pro with SP1. Recently, every time after I restart my computer I get an error message at startup: "One of the files in the systems registry data
had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful." And this is EVERY time I startup my computer. Is there any way to get rid of this or fix it?

Also, is it normal for WinXP to just randomly restart sometimes? It does sometimes when I put a CD in my DVD ROM drive.

No it's not normal for it to restart randomly. In System Properties> Advanced> Start Up and Recovery uncheck the box that says to automatically restart.

That will eliminate the restarting problem. Whatever is causing it will now give you an error message to help figure out what the problem is. Most likely it is a device driver. You can try scanning the disk for errors. From My Computer right click on the C drive and select properties, select the tools tab, select error checking, select to automatically fix file system errors, reboot your computer.

If you still get an error message post back exactly what is says.
