When I set up this system the other day I ran into a graphics card problem right off and could not get to the desktop. So, not knowing what the prob was, I ran Win XP repair, which basically was a reinstall.
Trouble is, the re'install just put in an "Administrator" account but not my usual user account. So I went to User accounts to try to fix it. Now I have a user account named Andy with admin privileges but no Administrator account shows up in User Accounts.
The "Andy" account does not have any of the settings for Outlook, etc. How do I get back the old "Administrator" account to access these settings? I tried to create a new account but it says one already exists. Where is it on startup and how do I access it?

I can get to "Administrator" only through safe mode but deleting the "Andy" account is not an option.
All I'd like to do is transfer the "Administrator" account documents and settings from Administrator to Andy. Is that possible?

I think that the Administrator and the Guest accounts are the only accounts that you should not be able to delete. Is it possible that Administrator was renamed to Andy? That would explain where Administrator went and why you can't delete Andy.

If you set up a second account with administrator privileges then the only access to the original adminstrator account is through safe mode. It doesn't show on the log in screen. The only options for me on the log in screen are "Andy" and "Guest". So I thought what the heck, just go into safe mode and delete "Andy" and just use the "Administrator" account from now on. Only trouble is that I have to click on the account I want to change, and deleting it is not an option. Help says you must have another account with administrator privileges delete your account, you can't delete your own. It's confusing.
You don't have to be in safe mode to access the Admin account. I use the old 2000 style log on and I can do it from there. On my kid's and wife's computers they use the regular welcome screen with several accounts visible. You can have the admin account shown there if you want. Even if you don't, you can access it by hitting Ctrl,Alt,Delete. You may have to hit it twice. Then you may log on as Admin.

Finally got it sorted out thanks to suggestions. Was able to go to Administrator account via CtlAltDel on welcome screen. Then ran file and settings transfer wizard. Appears to have transferred well but the system partition is now pretty full. Am deleting excess files from administrator. You guys just saved me a ton of work. Thanks again.
You bet! Glad it worked for you.
