i have this optical mouse. it dosent work right. the pointer moves choppy and randomly, and what ever button i click, be it the right, left, or scrool wheel button, it usually takes 10 clicks before it even detects that im clicking. I've replaced the batteries several times, installed new drivers (for the mouse, usb ports, the via chip set, everything), plugged the mouse into a different usb port, threw it across the room....and did hte little channel thing a few times, but it dosent help. Has any one else ever had this problem or know of any way to fix it? im getting rather frustrated by it and it is hindering me from playing any games as i would be a sitting duck w/o being able to shoot and jump and all

If it came with a USB to PS/2 adapter, use it. USB opticals are finicky sometimes.

shake the mouse around,if you hear cluttering sounds, most likely your mouse is done for.Just go get a new one,my brother's old ball mouse keeps doin' that because it keeps falling on the floor....

try not downloading any drivers for the mouse and just try the drivers on os you are using. on mine i just use the xp drivers. works fine.

Depending on your os you may need to update drivers. My logitech works good with the drivers updated but without the update bad. Also, sometimes the older drivers work better just depends on the mouse, you might have a bad one.

You probably have one of the older models of MS Intellimouse Explorer's. People did have problems with this model, it scanned to slowly.

I have the new improved high speed MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 USB.

It works fine for me, never had a problem since I bought it about a year ago.:)

Uninstall the Intellipoint software and use the builtin operating system drivers.

doesent work all the time. mfg's are putting the same number on the box the same as the controller and other things. numbers dont match they wont take it back.

I agree with WOlfie and glc - the software that came with my cordless optical Mouseman didn't work as well as the OS drivers.

well, i got my new mouse today so i dont think it really matters ne more. its a logitech mx 500. i know its not wireless but that dosent really bug me too much, the cord is long andi dont want to replace batteries every week. it has lots buttons, but they dont get in the way like some mice, and it moves smoothly too.

I have both a Logitech Mouseman Optical thingy and one of the newer Microsoft Blue Optical Mice (corded). Both work brilliantly, and I really like them. I think I prefer the Microsoft Blue one because it feels a bit better in my hand plus it's not as noisy as the Logitech. I personally hate cordless mice, they're too heavy, drives me nuts, so I go corded. But if your problem is the cords not reaching then what I'd say is to get an extension, you can get them for both USB and PS/2, works just like a power extension cord, but for your mouse instead.

A problem with your mouse might be that it's too far away from the reciever or that the reciever is surrounded by things interfering (speakers, monitors, cordless telephones are the usual suspects), you might want to try checking that out.
