Hi Webbie48,

Did you disable the onboard sound? If you were using a different sound card before, did you uninstall all the software first?

Hi Two Rails
This is a new build first build for me, every thing was working ok untill the sound card went in ( I think) works ok when the sound software is removed yes I did disable the soud on the card
The os is XP I thought that would have sorted out any conflicts

Thanks for your reply

HI Webbie48,

Try removing the card and uninstall all related software, and see what actually works. Some motherboards require jumpers to be physically set as well as BIOS settings to enable / disable items, and, since I've been bit on this, I'd double check the owners manual on disabling the onboard sound.

If the system boots OK without the sound card, try playing a movie, the video should still work. Also, check in the Device Manager to see if there are any problems there.

Once everything is looking good, reinstall the sound card, but use a different slot, away from the video card.

Good Luck on your first build !! :D
