jumpiness in xp

when i scroll through apps in xp, from the internet to word, the page jumps. i remember it used to scroll smoothly, and i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this. i appreciate the help.

If you're using IE, go to the Tools menu, then Internet Options. Under the Advanced tab there should be a section titled Browsing. Under that title is a box marked Use Smooth Scrolling. See if that's checked.

It must be that somehow your mouse settings got altered or reset. I would go to Start->Control Panel->Mouse and look at what options you're offered. You maybe able to adjust the scroll options.
