What kind of PC is it?? Some basic specs if you know and especially what Operating System is it?? Did it ever work OK?? If so have you added anything, installed anything or did anything to it before this started happening?? Possible virus???

hi, thanks for repling its driving me insane and its probably simple.
i have a celleron 3 prossecor, 6 gig hard disk, 320MB RAM and the cd rom drive is a "phillips 40X, PCA403CD". I run windows ME.
i have had the cd drive for 2 years and its always worked fine, up until about 2 days ago. i havent added anything for about 2 months, i upgraded my VGA card to "winfast Geforce2 mx 400".
i havent installed any software for about 1 month, i put photoshop 7 on there.
i started happening almost at the same time i was updating a friends CV. he had it burnt on to a CD. i was using macromedia freehand 10.0 at about the same time for the CV.
it takes ages to open the CD when i click the shortcut and when it does it shows me the main folders on the cd but when i try to open one of them, the windows empties and tell me that theres nothing to display. but it does tell me how many MB of info the CD has on it.
any help would be great,
cheers,
keiran.
