I'm trying to connect to my printer using the Linksys EFSP42 print server. The printer is an Epson Stylus 800.

Everything is working fine, best I can tell:

Test page from the server utility screen is fine.
I also tried different spool settings, nothing.

I tried what the manual said about installing the printer as a "Network" printer and then changing the port, but nothing works. After spending time on the phone with Linksys, they said it wasn't their problem.

Any thoughts?

Kept searching the Linksys site. Found this for another product, but it worked. Just adding it here incase someone else has the problem

Spooling Setting for Epson Printers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Double-click on My Computer, double-click on the C: drive, and create a folder and named EPSON.
Click on Start, Programs, Epson, Epson Spool Manager.
Highlight the Epson printer.
Click Queue, then Setup.
Put a check on Spool to Local Printer and Print Manager for this port.
Set the Spool Directory to C:\EPSON

Thats' good to know. Does it work well as a network printer now?

It works great as a network printer. However, it does spool on the local hard drive. Not a problem unless I'm printing large photos, then I notice a difference.

Prior to using the server, I was using an old computer with printer sharing. It had the advantage of spooling the print files to the server computer and freeing up resources locally.

I wanted to get rid of it for two reasons. The first was I picked up another printer and didn't have a second ISA parallel port to put in. The other reason was power consumption. Having a computer on all the time when I only used it a few times a week didn't make sense to me.
