My USR modem has been nothing but trouble since I have gotten it... It will just stop recieving any signal after a while... I wanted to try to disable V92...

I think this is the command, is this right?
AT+MS=V90,1

Where would I add this command on windows XP because I cant find anywhere to add it...

Thanks in advance...

I only used my USR v.92 a short while, but seems the command to disable v.92 gave me problems. Anyway, on your cd under manuals there should be the correct command.

Here's a more detailed take on it. Select "v.92 FAQ's" on the left side:

Thanks Sarge.... I think I'm about the toss this junk in the trash... Definitly the last time I ever buy any USR product....

Ummm...the command +MS=V90,0 should do it, but that depends on what chipset is on the USR.
FYI, using the "0" means that it will ONLY connect using V.90, putting a "1" there, means that it will attempt V.90, but switch up or down (to V.92 or V.34) if it can't get a stable connect...although with a USR anything is possible.

I found it on the link that Sarge gave me but still had no luck with the modem... All of a sudden it will just stop receiving any information and I have to disconnect and dial again.

I took it to warranty and they told me it was the modem so they repaired it… But I still have the same problem… I guess I will take back and see if I can get credit for something else…. I just hope I’m not out $100 dollars.

Doobie: What's your indicated connect speed? You may need to limit it down a bit if it's showing over 50666. USR's are usually real good about retraining up and down to compensate for line conditions, but this isn't *always* the case.

50 sometimes 52.... It works fine when it works but it will just stop recieving any data out of the blue. Sometimes one hour some times 10 mins, just a random times. I have to dial up again so it will work. I tried lowering the speed and I still have the problem. I took it wo warranty a few weeks ago and they told me the modem was bad and that they would repair it. I just got it back last Thursday and have had the same problems. I cant try your suggestion because I took it back yesterday but will give it a try when I get it back.
