I don't want to have to install certain programs on my computer because they take up too much space. Is there a way I can just install the programs on my server and access them from there? Some programs I can get to work, others require the installation. Is there a way around that?

it really depends on the applicaiton.
One of the fastest ways to identify applications that can be run remotely, is to see if there is a client component to the application.
What apps are you trying to run off an applicaiton server?

photoshop, office, premiere...
Map the server drive on each workstation and install the app on each workstation to the same location on the server drive. It will only install necessary system files locally, that's the best you can do.
And it might not be feasible for Premiere. Office can be slow, but Premiere, dunno, might not work.
Photoshop will just be slow, but I suppose it should work.
