I havea Cmedia Chipset sound with Z-680s with DTS decoding.

I am watching movies with windvd with software decoding. yet When I watch a movie in DTS I hear no sound is that because Soundcard also needs DTS compatability.

Your soundcard must offer a digital output -- the Dolby DTS or Dolby 5.1 (AC-3) Digital is encoded on the DVD. But DTS and AC-3 can only travel via a digital pipeline -- in either optical or coax form (most soundcards that offer a digital output have a coax miniplug).

The software that came with your system should have some sort of mixer -- usually you'll find it hiding in there.

Otherwise if you are using WinXP, goto Start--->Settings--->Control Panel--->Sound and Audio Devices. From there click Advanced under Speaker Settings and select 5.1 Surround from the pulldown list. Click Okay. Then click Advanced... under Device Volume and then click Advanced under Play Control. Make sure there is a check mark by Digital Output Only. If your not getting anything at that point, you've got me -- that's how mine are set up so it should work for any digital S/PDIF compliant output.

You need a DTS speaker system 5.1..... 2 speaker system will not work in that mode....

edge345 -- The Z-680's are 5.1 -- and they are about as good as it gets.

Fastfly -- I don't have any real answers for you -- I don't know the C-Media systems that well. All I can tell you is that it 'should' work as I've described. Sorry.
