hey kids,

What has been your experience with PowerDVD and WinDVD? Which one do you all prefer and why? Thanks...

I had WinDVD and its nothing special. Though I have heard that PowerDVD is pretty good, although I havent used it myself.

These 2 are the best anyway. Boils down to personal preference.

I prefer WinDVD. Even the bundled version is good, Platinum is better. Not sure if it's really worth the extra money though.

I always preferred PowerDVD because it was more comfortable and had more options and features than WinDVD.
But occasionally I've seen the newest version of WinDVD and it was just as comfortable as PowerDVD. Dunno about the options, but I'd say you need to try them both and decide for yourself.

There is a trial for both programs available.

I've seen PowerDVD crash too many times with XP to recommend it. I have switched to WinDVD.

Slightly off topic, but why would one want to go get yet another "patch" for a program that doesn't work?
Just get a good program that works first time.
With the plethora of shoddy junk bloatware around, just find the sleekest app that will do what you want, and work right the first time.
Adaptec/Roxio EZCD comes to mind as just one POS that doesn't migrate to XP, the the company has the audacity to tell everyone they must purchase the upgrade for it to work.
Sorry folks, but I personally boycott any piece of software that shoves that kind of crap down my throat, and it's unfortunate that less knowledgable users dig out the credit card at the first sign of trouble, and they keep paying because they don't know how to access a knowledge base like PCMech.

WinDVD or PowerDVD? AMD or Intel? ATI or Nvidia? Word or WordPerfect? Western Digital or Maxtor? Creative or Turtle Beach? Linksys or D-Link? Micro$oft or Logitech? Symantec or Trend Micro? Zone Alarm or Sygate?

Whatever works best for you, folks.
