I am running win 98 and recently installed office xp. I've always used outlook express, but have transferred everything to oulook. I have set up my profiles, but have a question. When I open outlook I always have to click send/receive to get my mail. Is there a way to do this automatically on open? I went to define send/receive groups and have "all accounts" set up to automatically send/recieve every 3 minutes, but it doesn't work. Do I need to set up something else?
Thanks

It should automatically send and receive when it realises you are connected. However this is not always instantly as I would like (Usually about 15 secs after loading the program)

Ok maybe I'm not waiting long enough. Much longer too load than express :(

Yes I find the load time strange also. The taskbar says Microsoft Outlook with no icon, then it disappears, then the splash screen comes up then it loads. THEN you have to wait for the send/receive to load up

You say you've actually turned on the option to send receive when connected or not?

Tools --> Options --> Mail Setup --> Send and Receive immediately when connected (Check box half way down box)

HTH, Thanks,

Jim

That box went unchecked. It is now....and it works! Thanks a bunch. This sure beats waiting on hold for 1/2 hour.

Outlook will never load as fast as Outlook Express. It is much bigger but it is also much more powerful than OE. If you are just using it for email it is overkill.

I like Outlook very much but if you don't need all the features it does tie up a lot of resources.
