ASUS probe monitering

Anyone know if this is accurate or no? I just built my new system (ASUS CUSL2; P3 800e). I bought from STEP withe their fan & bonded heatsink and am getting some weird results. I ran 3D MARK and at the end I had a temp spike indicated of 157. I shut down and checked heatsink with my pinky and it was stone cold. If this ASUS probe software is inaccurate then any recomendations (motherboard moniter, etc) I have mb moniter 4 and it don't seem to work with heat sensors. I am using rain and it really works with this setup. Anyone know the fan output on these single fan STEP units? it is no big deal to put a more powerful one on if needed. I even get temp spikes in my word processor? Weird. I am using an INWIN S500 case with both front & rear fans so I am getting good airflow. Anyone have any ideas???

I think they're not very accurate, I had it installed on my Asus P5A long time ago and it gave weird readings. Now I use Sandra with the bios module to get my temp readings. It's quite accurate.

ASUA has just published an update for most Award BIOS on their boards. It (supposedly) fixes the innacurate temp readings. I think it's ver 1006.

I also got problem with asus pc probe. I have an asus a7v mobo. History record shows 52 deg. cel as the lowest cpu temp and 73 deg. cel highest temp.

A 52 deg. cel reading for a newly powered pc is very high.

It appears that the problem is with the ASUS sensors on the motherboard. MB Moniter 5 will use them but it does not appear to be any mor accurate than the ASUS software. At idle it shows a more believable temp but still spikes high when using a word processor let alone a game. For now I simply have turned off temp monitering. I know that ASUS has posted an susposed fix to the BIOS but this is at best a gamble. (Is is really a fix or just inaccurate temp moniters) I am just not comfortable flashing a BIOS-espically not on a brand new motherboard. This is disappointing at best considering that my previous MB an ABIT DID have accurate sensors and for my purposes did not and still does not need a BIOS flash. Any way other than using built in sensors to moniter temps that anyone knows of?? I am thinking of using one of those alarm types that moniter case temps and plug in to a 4 pin plug on a temporary basis.
