Studio MX or Frontpage?

I am new to Web Design. I took a course a few months ago and I want to get more involved with it before I forget what I learned. I would like to get a good program. What would be the better of these, or any others that you may have used or know of?

Go with Studio MX. I have used both & Studio is much better. If you're not already familiar with HTML, you should also learn that.

Its not that Frontpage isnt a good program, it works great. The reason web designers dont like it is because its made for newbies. All of the tools within FrontPage simplify the process so you dont have to type in all the code for tables and things. All of the friends of mine that are very involved in Web Pages would never use FP, only Notepad. I personally have used both and like Studio better. More options, and easier to use once you learn the interface.

Again, get studio mx. Dreamweaver gives you more capabilities in it than frontpage will come close to.

Frontpage is awful for learning how to design web-sites since you really don't learn anything at all about HTML. Sites done in Frontpage look quite alike, plain with the same fonts and pastel colors. That and the fact of what FP does to your web-site with all of the hooks and extra extensions that it puts in are the worst parts of it. Studio MX is pretty good though I still prefer Homesite above all others.

I beg to differ. I use frontpage and I never use any of the defaults. I create my pages from scratch, make my own graphics and have learned a little about HTML and Java Applets, and Javascript. As for fonts, for just regular textual info, I usually use arial or times new roman. If I want something different, I make it a graphic (like a title on the top of a page).

Yeah, I stay away from the defaults because I have seen too many people use them. I agree on that point. But, it's not true for everyone. I admit that frontpage may not be the best in another designer's eyes, but it works for me quite well. ;)

I think WYSIWYG programs are good if you do not want to spend a lot of time working with HTML. However, you really should go back through and refine the code manually.

A lot of people say that WYSIWYG's are a crutch for those who don't know what they are doing, but I just think WYSIWYG gets the job done faster.

Go with Dreamweaver MX... No reason to pay the extra $ unless you are planning on using Flash.

I like the WYSIWYG idea. It helps save time for things like tables. However, you really should learn HTML before you jump into it because the more you know HTML, coupled with dreamweaver, then you can create powerful things. If you only use dreamweaver with little HTML knowledge, then your sites won't be constructed as well or turn out as well.
