I'm looking for realistic sounds for the guns in counter-strike. I don't know how realistic the defaults are though.

I'm would imagine that the sounds that are included with the realism pack would sound pretty good. I've never used this pack b/c I like to hand pick each skin and sound. Sometimes I'll download skins just for the sounds and use a different skin for the weapon model. This is prob. why I have over 3 gigs of CS models, sounds, and other junk :D

You'll just have to play around to find the best sounds, which is not as easy as finding a skin. You can see the skin b4 you dl it but you can sample the sounds. Hmm...That may be an Idea for a CS website! If only I was wise and creative in the ways of Web Design....lol ;)

The unsupressed M4 carbine in cs is very realistic. I have one, and tho the volume is nowhere near the real thing, the sound is very close indeed to the real thing. I notice that you can't hear the buffer spring "twang" under recoil in the game model, unlike the real thing. You will never notice this in real life anyway without using muffs, as the blast is greater than 120 dB, more like 140/160. I also find the M4 report to be realistic in SOF.
Funny, where I work, the ice maker sounds just like a "pig" being fired in the distance, "pig" being the ever loving M60.... belt fed goodness. While at it, I suppose the M249 in cs is factual, I will have to ask my bro as he carried one thru Desert Storm.
You might find some movies/news footage and pull sound from that.

I was watching Black Hawk Down and I think they were using the colts, but it didn't sound the same (not too sure though) also th AK (I think that's what they had) was different.

do your speakers play any role in the sound either?
