latched onto a Courier V everything 33.6K external modem.
works great using generic win98 drivers...
Can this modem be upgraded (flash biosed etc) to V90??
the FCC ID= cje-0263
fcc reg#= cjeusa-73130-f-a-e
it is copywrited 1996.
Seems to work great even at only 33.6K!!..cn just barely tell diff comparing it to my 56K external and internal winmodems!!
R there any "tweaks" for this modem? Newer drivers???
tx all----

You should be able to update the modem, there is a possibility that the EProm may need replacing, but USR will do that for you if needed. I would get in touch with USR and they can tell you all you need to know. The Courier has been their flagship product and they take care of Courier owners.
I do know that USR charges for the upgrade, around 50 bucks if I remember correctly. I don't know if they still offer it. Call em and see, but I wanna say that they stopped offering the upgrades.

It used to be 60 bux plus tax - and it was a download, not a chip replacement.
Go to http://modemupdate.usr.com and use the Modem Upgrade Wizard.

On older 20mgh Couriers the eprom was to small to hold the new code and they needed a new eprom. Mine was changed for free by USR.
And my upgrade was free. But he should check with USR, what does he have to loose, Couriers had a 5 year warrenty and that may have been upgraded to lifetime.

tx..will check into those tips...
interestiungly-the 33.6 seems to download as fast as my 56K V90 Diamond Supra Express...
also_ my elcheepo lucent LT win modem (V90) beats them all????...routinly gives connect spopoeds 50-53K with download thruputs of 4.0-4.5kps..i even have 5 devices on my tel line and still get those fast speeds!
picked up a Creative Modem Blaster ISA hardmodem V90--seems about the same as the Diamond...but was the EASIEST modem installation ive ever encountered(ie NO "opne com port problems etc etc etc et al..).
