Diamond V770 Standard (Not "ULTRA" Vs. Voodoo 3500 TV

Which of these two cards is a better O/Cloker performance combination? The Diamond is not the "Ultra" selling for $130 but the standard from Diamond's site selling at $59. Thanks.

A TNT2 for 60 bucks is a great buy, the 3500 isn't. If you want a Voodoo, get the 3000 and overclock it to the 183mhz that the 3500 is running at, the cards are identical other than the silly TV control thing attached to the 3500 and the clock speed.

Do you know what the difference between Diamond 770 Ultra Vs. Diamond 770 Standard is? I have a 3500 TV already, and just ordered the 770 Standard for another system I'm building. Need to know which one is a better O/C between Voodoo 3500 TV and Diamond v770 Standard since I intend to O/C P3 700E FCPGA to 933 on a CUV4X with Cas 2 Mushkin PC133 Ram. Thanks.

The 770 is faster at standard clock. Its compatability is wider then the 3500. The v770 is the "TNT2" based card and a good performer with "non-diamond" drivers. (the nvidia drivers are faster and more stable and exclude the pretty stuff) Most are aware that the Nvidia based cards are the fastest there are. The difference between the ultra and the standard is clock rate and cooling. The ultra uses a fan and faster memory which results in the ultra being clocked at 30% above the standard card. (typical)

Running a CUV4X at 133 FSB will not be overclocking the AGP bus, so that's not an issue. Keep it simple - keep the Voodoo in your machine if you are happy with it and put the 770 in the GF's. Don't install the Diamond drivers for the 770 - use the Nvidia reference drivers as Toaster indicated.

Keep one thing in mind - just because you *can* overclock something doesn't mean you *have* to do it.....

Glc, which is a better modem? A U.S. Robotics 2976 PCI hardware modem with voice or a Supra Express ISA modem? Will there be any drawback installing the Supra in the CUV4X? I will be formatting my hard drive and start from scratch again. I'm thinking about keeping it and installing the USR 2976 PCI in the P3B-F since I can use it as a backup for the 486 in case the CUV4X is down.

That's a tough call - they are both good modems. Which one is giving you better performance with your ISP now? The Supra will be the best for gaming, period. The USR will work better on lousy phone lines.

The USR works fine in the CUV4X and so does the Supra in the 486 I'm using now. It's probably wise to use the USR on her computer since she has lousy phone lines and I can keep the Supra for the CUV4X and always use the ISA on the 486 if is needed. Thanks.
