Help......I use Maxtor's Maxblast software version 1.27s to copy one drive partition to another. I do this for complete system and file backup on a 40 gig maxtor IDE drive with two partitions which are 20 gig each. The backup process has worked great and saved me a lot of time and lost data when my system crashed and burned once. I do realize this process provides me no backup if the drive suddenly fails totally. I intend to do backup to a separate drive in the future....as soon as I have the $$$.

Okay, now my current problem.....I tryed to run the Maxblast software today to do my periodic partition backup....and it wouldnt run! I got the following error: "can't run BDOS kernal file: A:\IBMDOS.com".

I tried the same software in my other computer (I back it up the same way) and I got the same error message.

I even downloaded a new maxiblast copy....but it still generates the same error message.

I suspect some files are corrupted maybe on the both the boot disk and the computer.

Can anyone give me a idea of how to fix this problem? The system works great except for this new issue.

Thanks in advance.

My system components are as follows: Transcend MB #TS-AKT4B, 1.2 athon thunderbird, 512 meg of Crusial 133, CL 2, SDRAM, 40 gig Maxtor 7200 IDE HD, 1.44 Sony floppy, Pacific Digital 48-12-48 CDRW, 56 K ISA USR jumpered modem and a Linksys PCI network card. The OS is Windows 98 SE.

Did you try putting the maxblast software on a new formatted diskette. also you might want to try scandisk on the drive. (both partitions)

I did download a clean copy of Maxblast onto a newly formatted floppy...got the exact same error message as before. I also ran scandisk on both partitions of the HD in the throughl mode. It didnt find any errors. I tried the floppy again afterwards, same error message again.....

I still suspect a corrupted file or files.

This has occurred on three computers I have now....including one Im trying to complete building tonight.
