During the last three days or so zonealarm has started asking me if I want to allow Fsq_3013 to access the internet and I have been saying 'no' and going ahead..then when I sign off I check to see what programs are running and Fsq_3013 is listed as running...it only started the last few days and I have added nothing and can't determine what it is..any suggestions?? am running P4 1.8, Asus P4S533 and Windows Me..

I can't find anything right away on Google that jumps out quickly and says "here I am, it's me". . .

Try searching for it's home on your hard drive. The folder it's in might give you a clue, as well as it's properties. I'm wondering if it's something running under a randomly generated name to hide it's true intentions (like a keyboard sniffer/logger)

Can't hurt to do a full & thorough system antivirus scan, though if it's a logger, the antivirus probably won't bother it. AdAware, Search & Destroy, or The Cleaner might be able to check that angle out for you. [They are usually available for download over at http://www.spywareinfo.com]. There is some controversy lately because AdAware hasn't been updating their freeware versions as often as their fee-based versions - so for that program, you might have to visit http://www.lavasoft.de for the download. (I'm not quite so hard on lavasoft as some of their critics, since I believe it's a fair deal that they need income to provide the service).

Quite possibly, that program is a legit subroutine of something on your machine (that just doesn't show up in my searches) - time will tell.

Best of luck

Open Zone Alarm's Control Center and go to its list of programs which have asked for permission to access the net. Find Fsq_3013, hover the cursor over it and it will tell you where it is located on your computer. That might give you some clues as to what it is.

Sounds like you got a "dailer". They install themselves on your system without asking or telling you it's happening.

Search your system for that file or you can try looking in c:\ or c:\Windows for that file and delete it. You might also want to try looking in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel for anything out of the ordinary. And check your c:\Programs directory for any folders that look out of place and remove it. I think they're stand alone programs and don't come with an uninstaller.

Check in msconfig to see if the program is starting up with Windows and uncheck it.

Guys, in my System Configuration Utility this shows up as Trickler with a checked boc just below Quick Time Task...i can uncheck it or leave it checked but still have no idea what it is--i evidently don't need it for anything that I know of but just hadn't shown up before..also now on rebooting after looking at all that i get a box popping up saying something about reconfig from startup and have to say ok .. am really getting messed up somewhere, i think

Okay, we've got an I.D. = it's a type of spyware. Trickster appears to be part of the Gator/KaZaa gang. Here's a quote from a tech site:
_____
Trickler (fsg.exe) This program is installed by software such as
Roger Wilco, Snood and other software that comes bundled with Gator. Gator is also identified as SPYWARE, meaning that it transmits data from your machine to other machines on the Internet
_____
Here's a site that contains some information on manually removing it:
http://www.net-123.com/webmasterzone/gatorhacks.html

You can also try the AdAware, Search & Destroy, and Cleaner apps over at spywareinfo.com

Best of luck

You should go to the following link and check this out. Spybot Search & Destroy (http://spybot.eon.net.au/) is a good program and if you have more spyware on your pc this will probably find it. It has a backup utility so if changes you make don't work right you can go back.
