Hello People''
Well its been awhile.Ilive in a area where I'm basically stuck with 1 ISP and I can't get DSL or cable.I don'want the expense of a second phone line but my wife gets upset about me tieing up our phone.I found out recently about Robotic's Internet call modem which flag's you when you are on line and receuve a call.It also has the ability to place calls through the internet.Does anyone know if any one else makes a modem like this, how good is it .From what I have been able to find out its a winmodem and sells for $100.
Thank you one and all AL

I have seen devices on the market for less$ and use your same modem. There are other online service available, pagoo, but you must have call waiting and call forward on busy, I used it for awhile, worked fine.
If you want a hardware modem with call waiting capability, look at the Zoom line. They have several hardware modems with this capability that are cheaper than anything USR has.
Check out the 2919L (ISA), 2920 (PCI), and 2949L (external serial). The Lucent hardware chipset has a nice call waiting function.
Yeap, I had the 2949 and the call waiting function worked great. Gives you a prompt on screen that you have a call, and you can either bump the modem or bump the call.

I use Hotcall 2000 (http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10061861&loc=101). It works great. All you need is call waiting. It works with your current modem.

My sister-in-law uses CallWave's Internet Answering Machine. (www.callwave.com) It's free, but I'm not sure if the phone company charges you for the "call forward on busy" service.

Thank you all'''
I did not want to use any of the service's (pago) Etc.and I certainly don't want to add call forwarding call waiting.I just want a modem that will do what it should it do.

You *will* need to get call waiting to use the modem feature. No way around that. You even need call waiting to get a conventional modem to toss you off line when the phone "rings".

Hotcall is not a service. It is a piece of hardware that the phone line runs thru to your modem and you also connect a regular phone to. There is no software to install on the PC. You do need call waiting. When you are on-line and someone calls, the Hotcall will ring. You can answer the phone connected to it and if you keep the conversation short, less than 10 -12 seconds, the internet connection is not broken. Hang up and keep surfing. If you want to talk longer, the modem will disconnect.
