I was just cruising around the net, and I accidently clicked on one of "those" links, and of course I got like 100 pop-ups, and as I was trying to get rid of them all, a Norton anti-virus window popped up and told me it had detected a Trojan, but then I went to Symantec and did a Virus scan, and said I didnt have any virus's, now I dont know whether me clicking on the link had anything to do with it, or norton just coincidently noticed it right when I was trying to kill the pop ups. Here is a print screen I did of the Norton msg I recieved, and my symantec report, as you can see Norton says it cont fix the file, and symantec says I dont even have one, I also tried going to the location that Norton gives my, but its nott here, I go to C:>>Documents and Settings>>AVX>>There is no "Local Settings" How do I kill it guys? Or could it just be a mistake, which I think is highly unlikely.

Hi

I can't answer your ? about trojan, but...

To find your local settings file, you have to show all files. Right click on start, explore. Click on tools, folder options. Under the view tab, look for "hidden files and folders". Check the radio button for "show hidden files and folders".

thanks Cheryl,

Now I can see the folder, but I still cant find the file itself, its driving me crazy, I ran a symantec virus scan, now Im running my norton virsu scan and they say Im clean, how is this possible, it tells me I have a trojan, and by defintion a trojan is a virus that poses as normal system file right? Is that why I cant find it?

I'm guessing it was related to all the pop-ups since it's listed in temp file, but I could be wrong. You can d/l The Cleaner from www.moosoft.com - its a trojan detection & removal program -- they have a 30 day free trial, or wait until one of the more knowledgeable members sees this post.

Good luck.

That's in your temporary internet files - nuke them.

Well I think I caught it...I dont seem to be having any trouble...the "Cleaner" program didnt detect anything, nor did norton virus scan, or symantec virus scan, I guess I got it...I hope...thanks for all the help everyone:)
